TL;DR: Girl crashes literal and emotional walls, moves in with grumpy hot cowboy, chaos ensues. 10/10 would recommend for your next “I need to scream into a pillow” read.
So. Gone Country by Kimberly Lewis.
Andi Ford’s plan was simple: fresh start, far away from the ex who shattered her. Her execution? Less simple. One wrong turn, one near-collision with a cow, and suddenly she’s ranch-sitting with an “unwanted roommate” — Zane McKade, the exact cowboy she almost turned into roadkill.
Zane’s life motto? Ranch, routine, no women. Andi’s arrival is basically his villain origin story. His mission: evict her. Her talent: testing his patience and heating his blood.
Why this book lives rent-free in my head:
1. The Grump/Sunshine Ratio Is Illegal
He’s all “get off my land” energy. She’s “I live here now” chaos. They clash like a screen door in a hurricane, but that one unguarded moment? Yeah. The line between fury and desire gets deleted. I was kicking my feet.
2. Small Town = No Escape
In a town too small to stay strangers, avoiding each other isn’t an option. It’s forced proximity with hay bales and emotional damage. My favorite genre.
3. Broken Pieces That Actually Fit
Both Andi and Zane have been burned before. This isn’t insta-love. It’s “I don’t trust you but I also can’t stop thinking about you” slow burn. The trust fall is real, and when they finally let those walls down? Whew. Get a fan.

Final verdict: Gone Country is for anyone who’s ever wanted to yeet their life, move to a ranch, and fall for the last person on earth you should. Andi didn’t choose the cowboy life — the cowboy life, and one very grumpy Zane McKade, chose her.
